Quest For Fire is a group of Canadian cave bears pawing at motorized garage-metal riffs and ghost-in-the-machine vocals; anyone who’s ever subsisted on a steady listening diet of Mudhoney, Queens Of The Stone Age and Fu Manchu will feel awfully cozy with “Bison Eyes.” (Note to members of this population: Please give up your weed connection to tips@magnetmagazine.com. Just kidding, dad!) Quest For Fire’s self-titled debut came out in Canada last year (the band includes singer/guitarist Chad Ross and guitarist Andrew Moszynski, formerly of big-in-Toronto outfit the Deadly Snakes) but is being made available in the U.S. on June 9 via Tee Pee. Seriously, there is a lot of caveman imagery going on with this album; we’ll let you know when the tour with Mastodon is happening.
