MP3 At 3PM: Qui

qui400dDavid Yow used to pull cookie dough out of his pants when he fronted Austin punks Scratch Acid in the ’80s. When he was in the Jesus Lizard, he broke his pelvis but the doctors couldn’t tell because the X-ray image was obscured by a fart cloud. You don’t even want to know the meaning behind the song title “Tight And Shiny.” Read all about that ancient history here. Yow currently fronts Qui, an L.A. avant-punk trio that recently played the fan-curated portion of All Tomorrow’s Parties in Somerset, England, offering for sale a limited-edition seven-inch titled The Little Golden Blanket. Here’s a track from the single, “Prison Braid,” an ode to everyone’s favorite behind-bars hairstyle.
