Bowerbirds take their folk sound to a new level with “Beneath Your Tree” from their upcoming album, Upper Air (Dead Oceans, due July 7). Phil Moore and Beth Tacular play a game of vocal catch infused with enough desire to make any heart yearn (“I could drag my legs across the desert, but my lips would still thirst for you, dear”). To go above and beyond, the sorrowful accordion serves as the backdrop for these longing voices.
