What Album Are You Most Looking Forward To Next Week?

I’ve looked forward to new album from him for about 4 years now. the first 3 are just gold to me. Incredible songwriter. Not being a fan of White Stripes, but having some admiration for White’s msuical knowlege (he called BB “the best songwriter, like EVER”) I was not too enthused by the Raconteurs project. An album I played maybe twice with about 2 good songs on (the first album is all I bought.) Benson’s songs are standouts and I felt like White was almost taking advantage of him for his talent whcih far outshadows his own. I’m happy that BB has achieved the attention that he diserves and also happy that he’s probably rolling in dough after years in near obscurity, except for music writers. I’ve listened to the NPR streaming of the new album and I’m afraid that I’m going to end up cherry picking a few songs from it. He had used a couple of female singers on duets on a couple of songs on his myspace player several months ago, and I don’t know if they made the album or not, but I was disappointed in the departure from his previous stuff. Of course musicians HATE when they get crap for wanting to break the mold and do something different, but hey, I like what I like and I think if it’s broke don’t fix it! The album, from just a quick one time listen is his Band On The Run album with lots of production, orchestration, strings and stuff. Oh brother. So, word of warning, check it out before you plunk down your long green for it as it may be too much of an ambitious stretch for your taste too.

Very interested in hearing the new As Tall As Lions album. These guys guys have always made good music and with each album they not only get better, but show true originality and growth.
