Robert Pollard would be so sad if he lost it. Thankfully, he has not. Since the demise of Guided By Voices, Boston Spaceships has become Pollard’s flagship band, and he seems to be distilling his best new tunes for their albums. 2008’s Brown Submarine and this year’s The Planets Are Blasted were full of the hooks GBV came to be known for. The new “Question Girl All Right” (off Zero To 99, out October 6) sounds like a track from the final Guided By Voices album, Half Smiles Of The Decomposed. Here’s hoping Pollard takes the gang out on the road again soon. Long live Rockathon.
