Capgun Coup has only been recording for two years but does angry, upbeat, proactive punk so well the band could easily be rocking alongside the Germs, Sex Pistols or Ramones. The band hails from Omaha, Neb., and put in time at Hotel Frank (the infamous refuge for young artists); its Midwest experience has resulted in a sound that radiates genuinely rebellious and invigorating energy. With a bedlam of angry guitars and echoing drums, “Bad Bands,” from Maudlin (due November 3 on Team Love), is one such anthem that will grab you and throw you into a wall—and you’ll enjoy every second of it. MAGNET is proud to premiere it here.
