Classic-era Guided By Voices guitarist/vocalist Tobin Sprout returns this month with The Bluebirds Of Happiness Tried To Land On My Shoulder, the first release on his new Moonflower label. The 10-track LP was recorded at Sprout’s Leland, Mich., home studio with him playing all the instruments, though Gary and Steve Vermillion (both members of Sprout’s touring band) contributed drums and bass, respectively, to a couple of tracks cut at Loon Lagoon Studio in Grand Rapids. Most of The Bluebirds Of Happiness was written in the past year, marking the first new songs Sprout has penned since going on a hiatus from music so he could concentrate on his career as a visual artist/painter/author. We are proud to bring you this exclusive demo version of album opener “Pretty.”
