MP3 At 3PM: The Sleep-Ins

Members of the Sleep-Ins, with origins from Australia, the U.S. and the U.K., found home base on a galaxy far away in their debut album, Songs About Girls And Outer Space, set to come out October 19 on frontman Chad Corley’s label, Ingot Rock. While their sound is more guitar-heavy Pixies and Dinosaur Jr than Ziggy Stardust, their passion for the extraterrestrial is all the same. On opening track “Silver Slate,” Corley recounts how he saw this babe who “was coming from the sky.” He has said that the entire album is an account of their impending relationship, “tell[ing] a story of the formation of [this] relationship, its struggles and eventual loss, a kind of rehabilitation of the characters in their personal lives, a brief flirtation with reunion, and finally an acceptance of a different kind of relationship.”
