Film At 11: Apache Beat

Post-modern punk quintet Apache Beat has just released a video for “Another Day,” off its latest album, Last Chance (Babylon/Beverly Martel). The NYC band’s psychedelic, hookah-lounge-meets-Yeah Yeah Yeahs composition was illustrated by elementary-school science-class VHS images of frogs, time-lapse cloud formations and underwater sea creatures. Experimental, blippy synthesizers and electronic rhythms were wrapped up by blaring, Saturday Night Live-style saxophones. The entire video resembles a ’70s-era mixed-media art installation best viewed when high. These groovy guitar riffs and hypnotic, pulsing beats, however, can be enjoyed anytime.
