Wildly successful in the early ’90s, rap trio Naughty By Nature still asserts its relevance every time “OPP” finagles its way onto a club DJ’s play list or rides the sound waves from a top-40 radio station. Now, two decades later, the hip-hop group from Illtown (East Orange, N.J.) has released a new video, “Heavy In My Chevy,” off its free, seven-track Naughty By Nature Feat. Garden State Greats: The Mixtape. Although it looks and sounds pretty similar to all the other recent YouTube rap hits, spouting off lyrics about clubbing over throbbing bass and featuring shots of shiny rims, the fact that they were front-running pioneers supplies them with all the cred they need to pull it off.
