Philly’s own Kurt Vile is releasing his new album, Smoke Ring For My Halo, on March 8 via Matador … Vampire Weekend’s iTunes session was just made available for purchase. It contains six tracks recorded this fall at Avatar Studios in New York and includes covers of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m Going Down” and the Honeycombs’ “Have I The Right” … Flaming Lip Stephen Drozd composed the score for the documentary film The Heart Is A Drum Machine. The album, which is out January 18 via Twinkle Cash Co., features a guest appearance from Maynard James Keenan on a cover of Elton John’s “Rocket Man” … On March 1, Ron Sexsmith is issuing his latest album, Long Player Late Bloomer (Ronboy Rhymes). Coinciding with the new record is a national tour and the release of a documentary film … Former Orange Juice frontman Edwyn Collins will see his seventh solo album, Losing Sleep (Heavenly), get its U.S. release on March 22. It features tracks co-written with Johnny Marr, Roddy Frame, Alex Kapranos and Nick McCarthy (Franz Ferdinand), Romeo Stodart (Magic Numbers) and Ryan Jarman (Cribs, Drums) … Asleep On The Floodplain is the new album from Six Organs Of Admittance, due out February 22 on Drag City … Eisley’s first album in four years, The Valley, is out on March 1 on Equal Vision. The band will support Rooney on a U.S. tour this February.
