Film At 11: The Cars

There are plenty of age-related jokes that could be made in regards to the title of the upcoming album by long-in-the-tooth, ’80s-hit-machine the Cars, but we’ll refrain. Move Like This (Hear/Concord) is the band’s first since the heyday of cassette tapes. “Sad Song” transports you back to the early years of MTV with its neon-colors-on-black imagery, thudding guitar beats and growling synthesizers. The confusion induced by the bizarre funhouse-on-Elm-Street sequence is offset by Ric Ocasek’s jaunty vocals and the quartet’s sunglasses-at-night sensibility. Unlike Flock Of Seagulls hairdos, this kind of trend doesn’t go out of style.

I saw the Sad Song video, and then I saw this one for Blue Tip… one better then the other. I love that the band stayed true to their music, and had the balls to make a killer video to go with it. Welcome back boys, its good to have ya, and please, more videos like this one, its perfect.
