Fleet Foxes gave us soft-spoken woodland gems, but their former drummer Josh Tillman is now giving us hard-hitting rock music in the form of his new band, Father John Misty. The first single from Fear Fun (out May 1 via Sub Pop) is “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings,” and it treads lightly but steadily, crafting a lo-fi haze with a steely edge. With gritty guitars and trance-inducing drums, this song is headstrong without being too cerebral. Oh, and if you’re an Aubrey Plaza fan, check out the music video. (Spoiler: She goes batshit crazy in it.) We approve.
