Film At 11: Iroquois Falls

The video for avant-garde Iroquois Falls single “Hey Annie (Twice Born Out Of A Gun)” is as hard to process as the song’s name. The clip is like lomography meets Andy Warhol meets your family’s old home videos. It’s a fantastic mixture of overlapping film strips, most of them full of grime and oddly colored. At times, the footage is so muddled or under/overexposed that it’s hard to tell what’s being shown. And that’s the nature of the song, off the Twice-Born-Once-From-A-Gun EP (Hi-Scores Recording Library): impressionistic, giving us glimpses of ordinary moments to create a meaning of our own. The video belongs more in a contemporary art museum than in mainstream pop, but it’s worth a look nonetheless. Watch it below.
