New York City is the greatest city in the world, and yet it seemed that something was missing. That was until Lauren and Pascal Balthrop brought the country to the city when the siblings moved from Alabama to NYC to create folk rock band Balthrop, Alabama. But it became more than just a band; it became a sort of a town, with a population of 11 or so. They reconstructed indie pop with a collage of songs that tell stories of love, the diseased and the diseased in love, pushing the boundaries between anti-folk and antebellum. This town ain’t goin’ nowhere, as third album Electricity will be available April 10 via the band’s End Up Records. Download the title track below.
