From The Desk Of Phenomenal Handclap Band’s Sean Marquand: Hitachino Nest

Phenomenal Handclap Band is the one that was never meant to be: an initially loose collective of musicians who wanted to stray away from the show circuit and focus on production. However, demand for PHB exploded following the release of hit single “15 To 20,” resulting in this diverse group of musicians stepping back into the spotlight for two albums, including the new Form & Control. We invited Sean Marquand, one of PHB’s founding members, to guest edit magnetmagazine.com this week. Read our recent feature on the band here.

Marquand: Hitachino Nest is our favorite beer. I hear really good things about Japan as a craft-beer mecca lately, but the only Japanese beer with a real presence in New York is Hitachino. Whenever there’s something to celebrate, we over-spend on Hitachino Nest. We also approached their art department to work with us on our cover art. We received a prompt response that informed us that their graphic artist was only available to be contracted through the brewery directly and that they had to warn us that they would expect a large payment for his work. We decided to stick to only enjoying the beer.
