We’ve known Meiko in the past to be a cheeky female songwriter with strong folk-pop sensibilities. She sang songs that were raw with personal experience, life observations and true emotion. After a four-year absence, we now see the reappearance of the deeply expressive artist, though this time she’s armed with more production and light electronica. The slight direction change captures her songwriting capabilities even more and only strengthens her unique pop sound. “Leave The Lights On” is Meiko’s first single off her new album, The Bright Side, out May 15 via Fantasy/Concord.
