Film At 11: Woodpecker

Woodpecker is seven Brooklyn softies who are no doubt kids who grew up listening to twee. Woodpecker’s music may be closer to the second-wave twee of Belle & Sebastian and the Math And Physics Club than vintage C86, but its lyrics definitely nod to the heartbroken pop of bands like the Field Mice or Tullycraft. On “Every Boy In NY,” the first single off the self-released Thanks Anyway (out July 24), the band sings, “Every boy in New York/Has a broken heart/And a cat.” We are proud to premiere the extremely goofy video for “Every Boy In NY” today on magnetmagazine.com.
