From The Desk Of Mree: Geocaching

MreeLogoMree’s second self-produced album, Winterwell, is a passionate blend of heartfelt acoustic folk and plush electronic textures, brought to life by her rich, multi-layered vocals. Mree’s lush harmonies float in and out of the mix like perfumed clouds, drawing you into a dizzying swirl of muted colors and ambiguous emotions. Armed with a guitar and an effects pedal that allows her to loop her vocals into an ever-shifting collage of sound, Mree is able to reproduce most of the album when she plays live. The New Jersey multi-instrumentalist will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our brand new feature on her.

Geocaching

Mree: If you haven’t heard of it before, Geocaching is kind of like a giant scavenger hunt. Caches are plastic containers of all sizes filled with items left behind by others who have found them. They’re hidden all over the place (seriously, I was so surprised by how many there are around me). You go online and enter a location to find nearby caches. Plug in the given coordinates into a GPS to find its approximate location and start searching! They also have hints to decrypt if you’re having trouble locating it. Once you find it, sign the log book inside the container, and if you want to take an item, make sure to replace it with something of equal or greater value. But you have to be sneaky about it! I went searching with my friend Joey around Central Park, and I must say, it was quite a successful adventure for us first time geocachers. We found 3/3 (technically 2/3 because the first one was missing; but we found the Velcro it was attached to) and had such a blast. Can’t wait to go searching for more!
