After the release of last year’s weird, deranged and hook-packed Mature Themes, it’s hard to tell if Ariel Pink is a serious songwriter, a goof-off hit-maker or living on another planet where his warped pop is top-40 stuff. Now, the lo-fi king is back at it on a seven-inch with Jorge Elbrecht. The video for “Hang On to Life” suggests the goof-ball theory.
