I Can’t Stop is the latest release from the legendary BoDeans, who started making music together more than 30 years ago. The band will be touring throughout the rest of the year, but in the meantime, frontman Kurt Neumann, multi-instrumentalist Sam Hawksley and drummer Kenny Aronoff will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week.
Neumann: Don’t even send me an emoji. It will only anger me. I don’t even know what they’re supposed to mean. Like we can’t even manage to type a word or two out anymore? It’s too much to ask to spend a moment describing a thought or feeling. A simple adjective, noun or verb. Instead, we send a yellow circle with a stupid facial expression? I’m sorry, but I’m really starting to worry about the human race going forward. Are we losing our ability to communicate with each other? At least in any deep, meaningful, descriptive way? I realize language has always evolved and changed. But I pray to God these lazy, awful, yellow circles are not part of it. Just saying.
