You only turn 10 once, so the Gaslight Anthem is making the most of the decade anniversary of breakthrough album The ’59 Sound. On June 15, SideOneDummy will issue The ’59 Sound Sessions, a nine-track companion LP featuring rare/unreleased songs recorded mostly before the Jersey foursome went into the studio to record the proper album. The ’59 Sound Sessions is available on CD and LP; a limited-edition colored-vinyl release comes with a 60-page photobook. A keepsake showcasing what they did when they were young, if you will.
“The journey a band goes through is complex,” says drummer Benny Horowitz in the photobook. “We were perpetually on the road and in a state of constant motion. I can’t think of a better time to try and create the most significant thing of your life when it was the most significant time of all our lives. I’m so happy to share this moment of our existence.”
Speaking on being on the road, the Gaslight Anthem is also marking the occasion with live dates at which the band is performing The ’59 Sound in its entirety.
