ISOLATION DRILLS

Isolation Drills: Pat Finnerty

Like the majority of you, all of us in the Philadelphia area are staying at home, learning to adapt to our “new normal.” MAGNET is checking in with local musicians to see how and what they’re doing during this unprecedented time. Photos by Chris Sikich.

Finnerty: I’ve been eating a lot of ice cream. Like, a lot of ice cream. Pretty much pounding it every night, and it doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon. Besides cookies ‘n’ cream, I’ve been filling the void by doing a show on Instagram Live called The Pat Finnerty Show everyday where I record songs, interview people who own fish tanks, have musical guests and sometimes get my socially distanced full band to play on my roof.

The roof gig was picked up by the news and went what I call bullshit viral, which was a nice surprise. Seeing people all around the world share the video really shows how much we are all so starved for live music. You can check that out on my IG or FB.

What else, what else, uh … Oh yeah, I bought a new comforter. It’s very heavy, but man does it rip. It’s like sleeping in a hot tub on top of a trampoline that’s resting on clouds. Total thrill ride.

What else, what else, uhhh … Oh yeah, I put a new song/video out called “Tough Gig” that I’m very proud of, and it’s currently dying a slow death on YouTube with 1,800 views.

What else, what else, uhhh .. Oh yeah, I call my girlfriend every night around 7:13 and we talk about what we’re gonna eat and what we are gonna watch. Last night was Han Dynasty and Mindhunters.

What else, what else … I’m hoping that someone steals my Grohl cutout so that I can start the hashtag #whostolegrohl.

Thanks for reading this. I probably know you.
