Since 2012, the Nashville band—a power trio in the best sense of the term—has issued six studio albums and numerous other sweet releases, each helping establish ATW as a heavy psychedelic-rock band that’s comfortable getting both Black (Sabbath) & Blue (Cheer) and Pink (Floyd) & (Deep) Purple. Nothing As The Ideal (New West) is the latest from drummer/artistic director Robby Staebler, vocalist/bassist Charles Michael Parks, Jr and guitarist Ben McLeod, and the Abbey Road-recorded LP is their best yet. Nine-minute-plus closer “Rats In Ruin” has a new video, co-directed and starring Staebler and Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos, Sons Of Anarchy). Yet another full-bodied Witches brew.
