I think it may have been this song, in 2006, when audiences realized I was also funny. Or maybe it was nervous laughter. Or maybe neither is true, but the vulnerability strewn across this song was new territory for me and my own nervousness about playing it live prevented me from anticipating how it would impact people standing in front of me. It was all so private and personal, until it wasn’t.
