| MAGNET Contest: This one is actually hard (we think) and exceedingly stupid (we know). In order to win a novelty pirate eyepatch and fake moustache (along with other prizes - see below), consider the following: If a band/artist were a pirate, what would their pirate name be?
For example:
Howlin Pegleg Almqvist (the guy from the Hives)
Haarrrr! Maaarrrr! Superstaaarrrr!
Arrrge! Overkill (the arrr! thing is totally fair game)
Jolly Roger Daltrey (lame, but proof of how difficult this contest is.)
Bonnie Prince Billy (oh, wait.)
Five winners will be selected based on the following criteria for entries: saltiness, scurviness, bloodiness and the ineluctable arrr! factor. All winners will receive selections from MAGNETs Prize Closet: CDs, music DVDs, autographed posters by the likes of Cat (O Nine Tails) Power and other assorted items. Only the grand-prize winner will receive the eyepatch and moustache.
Rules:
You may enter as many names as you wish, but you must include all entries in one e-mail.
E-mail your entry to newsletter@magnetmagazine.com (scallywags: hit reply).
All entries due by Friday, Feb. 13.
There are no rules. Pirates dont follow rules.

INSIDE MAGNET #63 (MAY/JUNE) - OUT SOON!
COVER STORY: THE STROKES
You can only be a hot new band for so long, and then you have settle for being a really good band thats a bit older and wiser. This was figured out over the course of a week in New York with the regular guys in the Strokes. Actually, that revelation only took a couple of minutes, and the rest of the time was spent playing video golf and eating chocolate donuts. Sorry.
