Given MAGNET’s detailed coverage of the end of the Mendoza Line—a beloved, ragtag countrypolitan bar band that went up in flames in 2007—it only seems fitting that we have plenty of access to the formation of the Jescos, the new group featuring the Mendoza Line’s Timothy Bracy and Wooden Wand’s James Jackson Toth, as well as Bracy’s wife, singer Elizabeth Nelson. Bracy has found his rambling pub-rock foil in Toth on the forthcoming Remembrance Of Things Trashed, a debut album that guts it out for rock ‘n’ roll glory. Read our Q&A with Toth and Bracy.
Timothy Bracy (And Elizabeth Nelson): Toth is a huge fan of the Tennessee Titans, and we’re big Washington Redskins fans, so we were thrilled when we got the opportunity to cross swords when our beloved Redskins signed erstwhile Titan Albert Haynesworth roughly two seconds after he became a free agent. We couldn’t be more excited. Adding Haynesworth to the Redskins’ defensive line is a definite value add. He’s an estimable defensive tackle—the best in the league—and he stomped on Dallas Cowboy Andre Gurode’s face once. Did you get that? He stomped on his face. That’s just … wow. Video of Haynesworth stomping on Andre Gurode’s face after the jump.

Hail to the Redskins. I have been skeptical of “the Danny”‘s decisions regarding free agents since he bought the team, but I think the past two summers have shown steps toward restraint, although the jerking-around of Jason Campbell is a reminder of Snyder’s true nature. At least we sorely needed help on the D-line this year, and Haynesworth certainly seems to be worth getting. These huge NFL contracts don’t mean anything anyway since it’s all non-guaranteed money.
