Film At 11: Meat Puppets

The Meat Puppets are back on the road for the third leg of their longest tour ever, playing the most shows they’ve done in a single year since the ’90s. They’ll be performing 25 songs each night, ranging from new material to rarely played favorites in set lists requested by the fans. The video for “Rotten Shame,” from this year’s Sewn Together (Megaforce), feels like a homemade tour documentary that puts today’s Meat Puppets in 1994’s MTV. Get nostalgic. That’s a good comparison. The new record does have a similar organic flow and whimsical harmonic delivery that REM absolutely nailed. Both bands admire the other, as well. I’ve been to many the Pete Buck party and he has an original Up On The Sun vinyl that he has practically worn out.
