Yeasayer, the self-described “Middle Eastern/psych/snap/gospel” fivesome from Brooklyn has just debuted its new video for “Madder Red,” the latest tune off Odd Blood (Secretly Canadian). It starts off like a film and features a movie star, Kristen Bell of Forgetting Sarah Marshall fame, to match. Throughout the video, Bell dotes on a creepy, talking Elephant Man gremlin as backup vocals hauntingly croon in a Shins-like fashion and drums and keyboards lay an ambient Thievery Corporation foundation. The video is a little strange but possesses a human essence that viewers can connect with, much like Yeasayer’s songs themselves.
