Film At 11: Architecture In Helsinki

Curiously named Australian electronic-pop quintet Architecture In Helsinki has unshackled yet another single from its stable of happy-pill songs better known as Moment Bends (V2/Cooperative/Downtown). The video for “Escapee” drives into a generic suburban neighborhood—made-in-America minivan included—while the band members serenade the common folk with their emphatic, dance-inducing melodies at an outdoor jam session on someone’s lawn. The song is the soundtrack to a restless tween boy making off with a bike and taking it for a joy ride, getting caught, then snagging it again. With its universally appealing hooks and pleasant vocals, AIH is looking to do the opposite of the boy: break into the mainstream, not out of it.
