Matmos looks deep into the paranormal for its latest work. The electronic duo drew inspiration from the ganzfeld experiment, a psychological test for extra-sensory perception from the 1930s. After attempting to telepathically communicate the idea of a new Matmos EP to test subjects, the twosome took the subjects’ responses as the foundation for lyrics, melodies, rhythms, etc. “Very Large Green Triangles” is the lead single off The Ganzfeld EP, due out September 13 via Thrill Jockey. It’s an excellent example of the conversion of psychological tests to music. Oh, and the song is really cool, too. Download it below.
