From The Desk Of Little Hurricane’s Celeste “C.C.” Spina: Roadside Farm Stands

Forgive the members of blues-rock duo Little Hurricane if they describe the past year as a whirlwind. Since their first practice in drummer Celeste “C.C.” Spina’s apartment in late 2009, they’ve gone from playing for crowds they could add up on one hand to earning the title of San Diego’s best new band and landing coveted spots at South By Southwest, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza. Despite the fuss they’ve kicked up with their live shows and debut album, Homewrecker (Unknown Breakthrough), success hasn’t translated into overconfidence. Spina will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our new Little Hurricane feature.

Spina: Fall is the best season for roadside farm stands. We drive a lot and see quite a few as we go. Whenever we can we try and stop and support local agriculture and experience some fresh fruit or vegetables. Avocados, strawberries, apples, raspberries and any kind of heirloom varieties are what I usually look for.
