Inspired by the likes of John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters, Handsome Jack keeps it simple and raw on “Do It! To It!”—essentially doing what the band does best.
“It’s built around a heavy shuffle and carries a positive message,” says Jamison Passuite, frontman for the upstate New York garage/blues trio. “It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have—you’ve got to go after what you want.”
Handsome Jack’s latest single was also the first track written for its upcoming album, Barnburners (Alive Naturalsound), that made the final cut. “It helped shape our decision to record an album full of stripped-down shuffle boogies and blues—just the three of us playing live, no overdubs,” says Passuite. “I think it turned out to be our most cohesive and badass album yet.”
