That we’re premiering “On And On Forever” on Spencer Miles’ wedding anniversary may be total fluke, but the Lips Of Strangers frontman does see some significance to the coincidence.
“The song started out as trying to mesh three random influences: the Cure, Tame Impala and Fleetwood Mac,” says Miles, whose younger brother, Wes, is the singer for acclaimed indie rockers Ra Ra Riot. “It didn’t turn out how I imagined, but that’s what makes it an interesting experiment. I was imagining someone wandering a vast foggy landscape, sort of endlessly searching for something in the dark. When I went back, I realized I was most likely writing about myself—the verses reflecting the times in my life before I met my wife, and the choruses after.”
“On And On Forever” is the second single from Too Long For Lovers, the retro-leaning dream-pop outfit’s second EP release in 2025. “I thought briefly about throwing the songs from the (self-titled) first EP into this new one and making one album out of it, but I think the songs feel a bit different,” says Miles, who operates out of New Jersey and is a former touring guitarist with his brother’s band. “There’s not much connection between the two.”
The most pronounced difference is the addition of Brooklyn-based singer/multi-instrumentalist Kate Victor on vocals. “She joined the live band after the first EP, so this one is more of a reflection of what we were doing in the live show,” says Miles. “I do want to make an album with this project, but I haven’t quite wrapped my head around starting down that road yet. Maybe in 2026.”
In the meantime, we’re proud to premiere Lips Of Strangers’ “On And On Forever.” Too Long For Lovers is out November 14 via M81 Group.
