By the band’s own admission, “We Just Keep On Missing Each Other” is the thematic and sonic glue that binds Factory Pop, the self-released debut LP from Boston’s Bowling Shoes.
“It waxes poetic on missed connections and a more-bitter-than-sweet feeling of nostalgia for home,” says Jeremiah Bermel, a Providence, R.I., native and frontman for the noisy-sweet alt-pop experimentalists.
The self-produced Factory Pop builds off the percolating momentum of the Spotify hit “Portland,” a 2018 Bowling Shoes single that has thus far accumulated more than 9.6 million streams. Most recently, there was the 2021 Doomscroller EP. The resourceful quintet bounced around a bit to record the 14 songs on Factory Pop, be it a garage, a makeshift office studio or Dead Moon Audio in Somerville, Mass. The LP was mixed by Darren Lawson (Glasvegas, Spiritualized) and mastered by Felix Davis (Lana Del Rey).
Aside from its sticky hooks, “We Just Keep On Missing Each Other” lends itself quite nicely to visual accompaniment. “The video bridges the gap between our other narrative-based videos by providing a behind-the-curtain glance at our artistic process in creating the world of Factory Pop and beyond,” says Bermel.
We’re proud to premiere Bowling Shoes’ “We Just Keep On Missing Each Other” video. Look for Factory Pop on April 4.
