For Reckoners frontman Tim Gearan, it all comes back around. “Mother Nature holds up a mirror to mankind and asks, ‘Do you see all the spectacular potential in all of this?’ So we build, invent and procreate, looking for ways to dignify our existence, and much of this is noble,” he says. “I guess the idea is, we can stand back and observe our achievements. But in the end, a blanket of stars might be the most comfort we find—if it doesn’t overwhelm us.”
That’s the gist of “We Saw It All,” the latest gritty, soul- and blues-kissed single from a group that’s put in enough time on life’s treadmill to warrant such big-picture musings. Aside from Gearan on vocals and guitar, the Boston-based quintet’s veteran lineup includes Johnny Trama (guitar), Marc Hickox (bass) and Darby Wolf (keys), all former members of R&B great Bettye LaVette’s band. Drummer Tom Arey has played with everyone from G. Love to Peter Wolf. Reckoners’ self-titled debut from last year featured guest vocals from Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Susan Tedeschi, and a follow-up is due in March of 2026.
In the meantime, we’re proud to premiere Reckoners’ “We Saw It All.”
