Every week, we’ll be posting a new illustration by David Lester. The Mecca Normal guitarist is visually documenting people, places and events from his band’s 42-year run, with text by vocalist Jean Smith.
It was a thrill to hear the Raincoats’ Gina Birch call “No One’s Little Girl” and Mecca Normal’s “I Walk Alone” “sister songs.” It was a total surprise to find out she’s been performing them together live during her solo shows.
