The second track from Charming Disaster’s latest LP, The Double, “New Moon” is an existential triple threat. “It’s dreamy incantation, a meditation on urban insomnia and a ritual immersion in the natural world,” says Ellia Bisker, co-founder of the by turns earthy and theatrical goth/folk duo.
Bisker and Charming Disaster’s Jeff Morris shot the video this past summer with filmmakers Zolomon Zelko and Max Losson. “They’d just moved to New York, and we wanted to make something loose and improvisational—making use of the city itself and the serendipitous moments it gives you,” says Bisker. “We shot it mostly in our Brooklyn apartments, the surrounding neighborhoods of Bushwick and Williamsburg, and on the subway—which gives it a documentary/verité feel.”
We’re proud to premiere the “New Moon” video. The Double is out now.
