Knoxville, Tenn., native Moss Henry found his singer/songwriter groove 1,800 miles from Nashville in the Virgin Islands, where his shows have become the stuff of legend, whether on the beach, in a bar or on the water. Available March 28 via Coral Star, Gone Away was recorded on St. John with co-producers Allen Clapp (Orange Peels) and Taylor Lissandrello (Wicked Winds) in a ridiculously productive seven-day session that netted 21 songs, 10 of which made the cut on Henry’s debut.
With discernible whiffs of Jimmy Buffet, Jerry Jeff Walker and Jack Johnson, “Damn Good” carries an unavoidable contact high. “The song is my summertime anthem,” says Henry. “It’s about having good times with your friends and loved ones. It makes me think about spending time out on the water, crushing some beers and soaking up the sunshine with all my friends.”
The video offers a glimpse into the St. John lifestyle. “The natural beauty of this place is undeniable,” says Henry. “And I think ‘Damn Good’ sets the perfect tone.”
