MAGNET Exclusive: Premiere Of The Pink Stones’ “Too Busy”

The Pink Stones’ Hunter Pinkston isn’t a religious guy, but he is a music fan. And he’s always been fascinated by those early country artists who “sang gospel tunes and wore suits with crosses on them even while they were getting into some pretty immoral stuff.”

That oddly intriguing paradox was the inspiration for Thank The Lord … It’s The Pink Stones, available September 19 via Normaltown/New West. Teaming up again with co-producer Henry Barbe (Drive-By Truckers, Deerhunter) in its hometown of Athens, Ga., the band was looking to dial it back and settle into a more traditional C&W groove after 2023’s loud and ornery You Know Who. “Too Busy” is a case in point.

“It’s the song on the record we’ve been playing the longest,” says Pinkston. “It’s typically early in the set, and we have a nice extended jam at the end. I wrote it after listening to a ton of Don Williams. I wanted to write something sexy and soft, but still serious and honest.”

We’re proud to premiere the Pink Stones’ “Too Busy.”
