MAGNET Exclusive: Premiere Of Twilark’s “The Deeper I Fall”

Some songs arrive fully formed from that strange, in-between space where exhaustion, inspiration and intuition gel. The latest single from Canon Pence’s Twilark revels in that feeling: a hushed, luminous meditation that seems to drift in from the periphery of a dream. “The Deeper I Fall” is from a forthcoming album produced by Dominic Billett (Andrew Combs) that features contributions from Erin Rae, Spencer Cullum and Maya De Vitry. And if this track is any indication, it’s likely to continue the Raleigh-N.C.-based singer/songwriter’s exploration of Southern melancholy, gothic folk and quietly transportive storytelling.

“‘The Deeper I Fall’ literally describes its own creation, coming into existence in that creative liminal space when you definitely should’ve gone to bed already,” says Pence. “I’m grateful we were able to get harmony vocals from Erin and Dom—plus gorgeous pedal steel from Spencer—to help this simple little song really sing.”

We’re proud to premiere Twilark’s “The Deeper I Fall.”
