A lot of people we know believe that those who write about music shouldn’t also play in bands. While that point of view does have some merit, we’re happy that MAGNET’s Ryan Burleson does both. Besides penning our weekly Take Cover! feature, the Nashville-based Burleson also plays guitar in Southern. The trio (augmented on record by ex-Trail Of Dead drummer Aaron Ford) met 11 years ago on the Southeast hardcore circuit, though Southern creates music that’s more arty and experimental than the band’s roots would have you believe.
