Patty Griffin Wows On Her First U.S. Tour Since Beating Breast Cancer

Patty Griffin just finished a North American tour, and next month she’ll hit Europe before coming back stateside in June. All these shows are in support of her excellent 10th album, issued in March. The self-titled/self-released LP is Griffin’s first since 2015’s Grammy-nominated Servant Of Love and comes after a period when not only did the Texas-based singer/songwriter battle breast cancer, she also split from boyfriend/collaborator Robert Plant (who appears on two songs from the new album). Griffin played Union Transfer in Philadelphia with Nashville’s Ruston Kelly opening, and as MAGNET photographer Chris Sikich can attest, Griffin had the crowd eating out of the palm of her hand from the start: a cover of Springsteen’s “Jungleland.”
