Superchunk Gets Baked Again

superchunk-beachcrIndie legends Superchunk cook up another batch of Clambakes, the band’s official live bootleg series, with Sur La Bouche – Live in Montreal 1993, out January 13 on Merge (go figure). This fourth Clambake is, as the title suggests, from a Montreal show on the On The Mouth tour, when the band was arguably in its punk-pop prime. The record is also available as a download from the Merge digital store and will be sent for free to all subscribers to Score!, the Merge 20th anniversary boxed set.

Sur La Bouche is worth checking out for the gig flyer that serves as its cover. Drummer Jon Wurster tries—and fails—to look tough (the guy can’t hide being a sweetheart), while guitarist Jim Wilbur tries—and succeeds—to look surly.
