Ever wonder what will happen during the last five minutes of late-night TV talk shows? Here are tonight’s notable performers:
The Late Show With David Letterman (CBS): Elbow
Elbow is one of those seminal Britpop bands, like Radiohead, Blur and Oasis. What really stands out is Guy Garvey’s vocals, less monotone or falsetto and more gutteral than comparable artists. Elbow released Seldom Seen Kid: Live At Abbey Road (Fiction) in the spring and is touring the U.S. and U.K. this summer with Coldplay and also U2.
Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (NBC): Passion Pit
This Cambridge, Mass., electronic band is playing Late Night to promote its debut album, Manners (Frenchkiss). Passion Pit was named the best new act by the Boston Phoenix in 2008 and has been compared to Hot Chip, recent Of Montreal and Cut Copy.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC): The Sounds
These Swedish power-poppers will appear on Kimmel tonight to play a song from their latest album, Crossing The Rubicon (Original Signal). The Sounds are currently finishing up a tour with No Doubt and Paramore.
