The Happy Hollows have a lot of weapons in their arsenal, but chief among them is vocalist/guitarist Sarah Negahdari. “Faces,” from the forthcoming Spells, gives Negahdari the perfect chance to show off her Polly Harvey-meets-Kim Deal croon. The Los Angeles band has opened for Silversun Pickups and Deerhoof in the past, and while the Happy Hollows are only playing a handful of gigs before the summer ends, Spells drops in October.
