San Francisco’s John Vanderslice has just released a limited-edition seven-inch for “Too Much Time” featuring exclusive b-side “Moon Rocks.” For the recording of his latest album, Romanian Names (Dead Oceans), Vanderslice attempted a more editorial approach, first laying down the demos for most of the songs in his basement studio before re-recording and dubbing at his all-analog studio, Tiny Telephone. This new process allowed the songs more time to gestate and for Vanderslice to cull the weaker tunes. The result is his strongest collection of songs to date. He is currently touring throughout Europe. Download the demo of “Too Much Time,” a warm, vintage synth ballad about a man waking up on the beach after running away from home.
