Film At 11: Billy Bragg

Inspired by the women of Uganda who use their voices and songs to promote change in war-torn Northern Uganda, Southern Sudan, Eastern Congo and CAR, The Voice Project is a movement to support these woman and their desire for peace through the healing power of music. TVP uses black-and-white film to record artists covering other artists, spanning genres from around the world, including the Ugandan women’s cover of Joe Purdy’s “Suitcase,” Emmanuel Jal’s cover of Damian Marley’s “Road To Zion” and the Submarines’ cover of the Beatles’ “For No One.” TVP’s latest film features Billy Bragg in a London hotel room, covering of Joanna Newsom’s “On A Good Day.” The acoustic guitar he plays provides depth to the melody, but the focus is on Bragg’s voice. And on Bragg’s humor and humanity.
