Dead Confederate plays a unique brand of Southern-gothic rock, like Tom Petty coming through a dark New Orleans fog. The band has just released sophomore album, Sugar (TAO/Old Flame), produced by John Agnello (Hold Steady, Sonic Youth) and featuring a guest appearance by Dinosaur Jr’s J Mascis. The second single off that album is “Run From The Gun,” which frontman Hardy Morris has said was inspired by the United States’ “mistreatment of Native Americans and how it would have been beneficial to go back in time and tell them to ‘run from the gun.'” Download the track below, and catch the band on tour with Futurebirds and Alberta Cross throughout the U.S. this fall.
