Broken Social Scene (pictured) and the Sea And Cake are releasing a split seven-inch of previously unreleased material October 26 via Arts & Crafts. The two bands are currently on an extensive tour of North America and Europe … On December 9 and 10, Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, N.C., will host a special performance of Big Star’s acclaimed third album, Sister Lovers. The all-star band will include members of Big Star, R.E.M., the Love Language, Lost In The Trees and many others, including Mitch Easter and Chris Stamey. Proceeds from the show will benefit two charities focused on improving the lives of musicians … Live In London (Sire/Warner Bros.) is Regina Spektor’s first live recording and concert film, featuring 23 performances filmed mainly at London’s Hammersmith Apollo Theatre. It’s out October 22 … In celebration of their current worldwide tour, Born Ruffians are releasing the Plinky Plonk EP, a limited-edition seven-song record that contains two new tracks, a collaboration with Tokyo Police Club and reworked/remixed versions of songs from Say It, the band’s recently released full-length … David Bazan will release the seventh installment of his “Christmas Singles Series” on November 9. The seven-inch (on Suicide Squeeze) will be limited to 1,000 copies … Metallica is issuing Live At Grimey’s (Warner Bros.), the recording of the band’s intimate, surprise performance in Nashville, on November 26. The fan-only show took place at The Basement, a 150-capacity venue below Grimey’s New & Preloved Music, the night before the band played a headlining performance at Bonnaroo … On January 11, Tapes ‘N Tapes is releasing its third full-length, Outside. It was recorded in the band’s Minneapolis hometown, self-produced and will be issued on its label, ibid Records.
